I am a Bali-based multimedia artist working in acrylic paint, performance art, sound, and mixed media installation. My work is about colour.
Frequently, rays of sunlight blast through the crystal on my windowsill creating a sublime masterpiece as my apartment is infiltrated by thousands of rainbows! They enter my eyes. They travel, a glissando across the keys of my piano. They dart into my closet and hide in my clothes.
In my works, I invite colours to socialize in unexpected ways, evoking the glorious, the sublime, and the resplendent. A colour that looks cold on its own is reborn as something altogether different when summoned into a vibrant new context.
I challenge the atonal neutrality so prevalent in the northern hemisphere by introducing the artistic equivalents of a bird of paradise witnessed for the very first time, a jumbled hyperspectrum that defies material conventions, a rewiring of colourful possibilities. The results are endlessly surprising. I play with these ideas just as the refracted sunlight plays with me.
